The Nor Cal Carpenters Training (NCCT) is an apprenticeship program that trains union apprentices in the following crafts: Carpenters, Acoustical Installers, Drywall/Lathers, Floorlayer’s, Insulators, Millmen & Cabinet Makers, Millwrights, Modular Systems Installers, Pile Drivers, Scaffold Erectors and Shingler’s. The NCCT is a 4-year training program, and your employment is gained though United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) Membership through The Nor Cal Carpenters Union working for union contractors.

To start the direct entry process, please email Western Regional Manager Nick Weathers at: nweathers@helmetstohardhats.org and he will send your information into the Carpenters training center.


Nor Cal Carpenters Training is a Carpenters and related crafts Apprenticeship program in Northern California. The Pleasanton Training Center is one of 4 campuses and is a four - (4) year apprenticeship program approved by the State of California. Apprentices receive on the job training (through Employer’s signatory to the Union) and related and supplemental instruction (through training centers and on the job hours) throughout the term of the program. Upon completion of the minimum requirements of the program a person is promoted to the classification of a Journeyman with a trade certificate. Upon successful completion, each person will receive a certificate from the State of California and from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America to one of the following chosen crafts

INSTALL Floorlayers
Insulators
Millwrights
Modular Systems Installers
Pile Drivers
Scaffold Erectors

Requirements

To indenture into the apprenticeship program (become an apprentice) a person should meet the following requirements:

  1. Applicants MUST be 18 years of age or a minimum of 17 and have parent or guardian sign their agreements.
  2. An applicant SHOULD Be able to do the work of the trade
  3. An applicant SHOULD have a valid Driver’s License.
  4. An applicant SHOULD have reliable transportation.
  5. An applicant SHOULD have a basic set of tools
