Garden Center Worker
Garden Center Worker - Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train, and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. We are currently seeking part-time applicants for a Garden Center Worker who, under direct supervision, completes a variety of tasks related to the daily operation of Eggleston’s Farmers Market and Garden Center. Professionally engages with customers. The position must be filled by an individual with a documented disability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Sell merchandise to include assisting customers with ordering merchandise and advising on merchandise price, features, and/or fees and services
- Operates computerized cash register to conduct sales transactions; handles cash and makes change as required
- Respond to routine customer telephone inquiries
- Assist with receiving and displaying merchandise with specific instructions and established policies and procedures; ensure that displays are in accordance with established standards.
- Helps with security, merchandise stocking, and/or related routine floor duties
- Perform general floor maintenance and housekeeping; monitor and maintain the condition and safekeeping of merchandise and/or rental equipment
- Attends in-service training, meetings, and workshops as required
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE:
The following qualifications represent the training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully:
- Capable of following instructions and meeting standards for the quality and timeliness of job duties
- Experience in retail sales preferred
- Ability to communicate with customers
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers, and provide basic customer service
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical demands: Performing the duties of this job requires near visual acuity, the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds, and gross manipulation. Additionally, the employee:
- Must be free of tuberculosis in a communicable form
- Must be able to lift/move15+pounds and withstand prolonged hours of standingand walking
- Must be able to bend through a full range of motion, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl
- Must be able to maintain all personal care needs, including medication management, during work hours
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily perform in a typical interior, retail, and garden center environment as well as outside in the garden center. Exposure to a variety of weather conditions, including heat and cold.
