IBEW Local 43- Syracuse, NY
A Local 43 apprenticeship combines on-the-job and classroom training. This allows you, as the apprentice to actually earn while you learn. As an apprentice, you will work year-round for electrical contractors, and attend classroom sessions during the academic year. As you learn by doing, you are paid directly by the contractor with which you are employed. While progressing through the training, you receive guaranteed promotion and pay raises.

Click here for a link to the Apprenticeship Application. BUT please continue reading before you apply, as the following are instructions you must follow after you’ve applied and the instructions below will ensure your application is processed in a timely manner.
After You Have Applied:
The next thing that you need to do is forward your Official High School Transcript to our office within 30 days of submission.
If we do not receive your official transcript within those 30 days, your application is automatically purged from our system and you will need to start the application process all over again.
To forward your official high school transcript, simply call the high school that you attended and ask the school to send the transcript to:

NOTE: If you did not graduate from High School, it is necessary for you to submit a copy of your GED.
Requirements
What basic requirements must I meet to qualify?
You must be:
- ... at least 17 years of age to apply, 18 to work
- ... a resident within 25 miles of the IBEW Local 43 Jurisdictional line. Please use this link to view Local 43 Jurisdictional Map.
- ... a high school graduate or possess a GED (GED copies required when applicable)
- ... able to show proof of the successful completion of one year of high school algebra
- ... able to provide an official transcript for high school and any post high school education and training within 30 days of application
- ... able to achieve a qualifying score on an aptitude test given by the ETA
