We are the electrical apprenticeship in Eastern Kansas. No one in our area can offer the same level of career training for electricians. We utilize both on the job training and related classroom instruction, with a nationally recognized curriculum, to offer a true "earn while you learn" education. Our apprentices earn good wages and get healthcare and retirement benefits at no out-of-pocket expense. We are affiliated with IBEW local union 226, which ensures the best wages and benefits in the area, the best training, and the safest working conditions for electricians in our area. Our selection process can be lengthy, depending on when you apply, but it is easier for veterans and we often have other job opportunities in the meantime. Topeka, KS is accepting Apprentice applications for its Electrician apprenticeship
Apprentice Electricians learn the trade through a combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction.
Learn and perform the construction and maintenance skills required for electrical installations in residential, commercial, and industrial occupancies. Tasks include: conduit system fabrication, cable and wire pulling, power and lighting system install, service and power distribution, motor control and programmable logic controllers, building automation, fire safety and building security/access control systems, energy management systems, etc.
Requirements
Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday at:
1620 NW Gage Blvd, Topeka, Kansas between the hours of
8:00 - 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
or by appointment.
If you live in the Parsons area, you may apply either in Topeka or by appointment in Parsons.
Documentation required to be eligible to take the aptitude test:
- A non-refundable application fee of $25.00 is required to receive an application.
- Need to see originals of your birth certificate, drivers license, social security card, transcript of high school grades or GED Certificate
- Will make copies and return your original documents
All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible for an interview:
Age – Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Education – Applicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED and a minimum of one (1) year of Algebra with a passing grade.
- Aptitude – Applicant must receive a high score on the aptitude test.
- Physical Condition – Applicant must be able to perform essential functions of electrical construction work.
- Documentation – Applicant must complete and turn in all documentation within 20 days of receiving application to be considered complete.
All applicants must reside within the Local Union #226 jurisdiction. The Committee will grant all applicants who meet the basic requirements an interview. The eligible applicants will be notified by mail of the date, time and place to appear for their interview. If an applicant fails to appear at the scheduled time, the Committee will consider the applicant is no longer interested in the program. Apprentices will be selected in the order of applicants ranking resulting from the rating at their interview.
