ABOUT OATH: The City of New Yorks Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) is the nations largest administrative tribunal, holding more than 250,000 trials and hearings a year. As the Citys central, independent administrative law court, OATH adjudicates a wide range of matters filed by nearly every city agency, board, and commission. OATH also houses the Center for Creative Conflict Resolution which provides mediation and restorative justice support to City government agencies and the general public, and the Administrative Judicial Institute, a resource center that provides training, continuing education, research and support services for administrative law judges and hearing officers.JOB DESCRIPTION:The OATH Hearings Division seeks to hire a Community Associate to assist with the processing of cases and motions for the Hearings Division, including but not limited to evaluating correspondence submitted by respondents and representatives regarding defaults, motions to vacate defaults and requests for hearings by mail and online submission, entering and retrieving data using spreadsheets, electronic databases and case management systems, reviewing electronic case information for accuracy and updating the information, if necessary, responding to public and intra-agency inquires via telephone and email, and assisting with special projects as needed.Work Location: 66 John Street, NY, NY
Requirements
Qualification Requirements 1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or 2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
