Job Summary and Qualifications
Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Responsible evaluation of behavioral health clients in an acute setting to determine appropriate level of inclusion in music therapy. Determines strategies for therapeutic interventions through the use of music. Participates in the interdisciplinary process of individualized treatment planning. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Requirements:
Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS-Healthcare provider through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, CPI certification and re-certification every 2 years thereafter, licensure/certification in the State of Colorado.
Education: Bachelor’s degree with certification as a Music Therapist. Master’s degree and experience in Behavioral Health related field preferred.
Experience: One to three years of clinical/direct behavioral healthcare experience
Special Qualifications: Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and able to work with a highly diverse population. Must be knowledgeable of ADAD and JCAHO standards. Must be knowledgeable of behavioral health evaluation and consultation processes. Must have ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work in high stress environment. Must be able to apply critical thinking and formulate diagnostic impressions based upon review of systems, history, symptoms and current presentation. Must be able to provide crisis intervention and utilize system resources/referrals.
