This is a Registered Apprenticeship with the Department of Labor. Millwrights install, maintain, diagnose, and repair equipment such as compressors, pumps, conveyors, gas and steam turbines, monorails, and extruders. You earn while you learn.
Over 4 ½ years. Millwright Apprentices will learn how to perform mission-critical work at coal, gas, nuclear, and alternative-energy power plants. Their skills are also vital in industries as diverse as automotive, aerospace, food processing, and pharmaceuticals. Throughout this apprenticeship, the apprentice will spend 6,000 hours working on the job and 18 weeks of school. You are scheduled for 1 week of school per 3 months of work. This job is physically and mentally demanding. You will work with various tools and metals. You will also learn to weld. Millwrights also travel outside of the St. Louis Area at times.
Requirements
You will need to apply for the Apprenticeship program.
Once you are contacted by the training center, you will need
to obtain a Letter of Intent to Hire from a signatory contractor.
Complete a Drug screen.
You will be required to purchase hand tools as well. List will be given to you from the training center.
