Materials & Processes Technician

 The individual in this role will be responsible for performing various functions in compliance with company and government standards to support the Quality Assurance team in the Materials & Processes Laboratory.


 Essential Functions



  • Under minimal supervision, conducts tests and inspections IAW Kearfott and customer drawings as well as military, Federal, and Industry specifications to assure conformance to requirements.

  • Interprets Kearfott and customer drawings, military, Federal, and Industry specifications in order to: identify & evaluate materials; evaluate materials to extend shelf life, support Incoming Inspection, and test production lots.

  • Operates and/or participates with a team member to operate instruments and equipment in laboratory and /or production departments in support of above functions.

  • Gathers, correlates, and analyzes technical information necessary to accomplish assigned tasks using ERPS system and internet resources.

  • Prepares reports, charts, graphs and other documents using Microsoft Office software

  • Evaluates customer and industry standards with the purpose of updating Kearfott internal procedures.

  • Assists Quality Engineering with resolving Kearfott supplier issues. Interacts/communicates with supply chain.

  • Performs any other tasks as directed by Management, as time permits, to satisfy company objectives.

  • Perform final and in-process inspection as required


Required Skills:



  • Must have solid communication skills, both written and verbal, across functional areas.

  • Skilled in Word, Excel and other software tools.

  • Excellent organizational skills.


Knowledge as to operation of this equipment is a plus but not required:



  • SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)

  • SEM-EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscope)

  • FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared)

  • XRF (X-ray Fluorescence)

  • Instron tensile, compression and shear testing.

  • Hardness Tester



Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school preferred

  • Minimum 1-3 years related work experience, 3-5 years preferred

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available
