Landscaper
WORK Inc., a nonprofit human service provider agency in Dorchester, is seeking individual with a disability to perform grounds maintenance and snow removal duties at the at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, 200 William T. Morrissey Blvd.
- Meet regularity with case manager and onsite
supervisors - Grass mowing
- Remove all debris, trash, paper or other safety
related items prior to mowing the lawn. - Use a walk behind and/or ride on lawn mower to cut
grass. - Grass must be cut must be kept at a uniform and cut
to a height between two and three inches. - Remove all grass clippings
- Edging
- Use a weed wacker to edge all sidewalks, driveways,
curbs, and other concrete or asphalt edges. - Use a weed
wacker to remove vegetation from cracks in sidewalks, driveways, and
curbs. - Grass and weeds must be removed and disposed of
immediately after edging is performed.
- Trimming, pruning and grooming all plants, trees and
hedges. - Fertilizing grass, trees, shrubs and plants.
- Mulching including removal of old mulch as
applicable and installation of new mulch. - Hand held and mechanical watering and other soil
conditioning. - Setting new plants/removal expired ones.
- Sweeping, raking and leaf blowing.
- Exterior trash removal including policing of
grounds. - Other landscaping cosmetic tasks.
- Snow Removal (as required by site)
· Shovel
snow and ice from side-walks, stairs, ramps and entrances.
· Sand
and salt side-walks, stairs, ramps and entrances.
· Use
snow blowers and snow brushes to remove snow from side-walks, stairs, ramps and
entrances.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Follow detailed schedules according to the project
site contract. - Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective
equipment and complaints to immediate supervisor or Project Manager. - Ensure that designated cleaning areas are free of
equipment and supplies. - Ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly
stored to their proper area(s) at the end of a shift and/or workday. - Maintain a positive working relationship with all
customers while providing a customer service atmosphere. Any other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualification/Education/Experience:
Certified
Disability consistent with AbilityOne Commission regulations
1-2 years experience in landscaping or
horticultural services including working with powered and manual landscaping/snow removal
equipment.
Communication Demands:
1. The ability to ability to follow and
respond to common inquiries of complaints.
2. Willingness to accept constructive
feedback and practice skill sets based on supervisor evaluation.
Environmental Demands:
Due to the nature of the job site the environment will
vary according to weather conditions. An ability to work out doors for long
periods of time daily in all types of weather (i.e. snow, wind, ice, sleet,
freezing rain, rain, cold/freezing and/or hot temperatures) is an essential
requirement of the job. In addition
working with turf, flowers, trees and fertilizers is required without adverse
