IBEW Local 288 Electrical Apprenticeship Program in Waterloo, IA is accepting applications
The first step towards a career as an Inside Wireman begins with your acceptance into our Apprenticeship Program. This can be a lengthy process. It is important to remember that you are pursuing a career, not a job. Applicants must fill out an online application (see below). To see if you qualify for the program, please make sure you meet the the MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and have the REQUIRED DOCUMENTS. Once you have submitted your application, a representative will reach out to you regarding next steps. If you meet the MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS but do not meet the criteria for Direct Entry / Direct Interview listed , you will scheduled to take an APTITUDE TEST. This test will cover both Algebra and Reading Comprehension.
Northern Iowa JATC Apprenticeship
The NECA-IBEW 288 Electrical JATC offers a five-year apprenticeship program, which combines both on the job and related classroom training. If accepted into the apprenticeship program, apprentices must complete a minimum of 8,000 on the job training hours before becoming a Journeyman Wireman. Apprentices are also required to complete 5 years of school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Inside Wiremaninstalls and maintains all the various types of electrical systems found in commercial and industrial facilities.Equipment used may include lighting, receptacles, motors, heating equipment, and systems that control the operation of all of facility's energy usage.
Our trained Inside Wireman perform installation and maintenance for commercial office buildings and all complexes, including petrochemical, pulp and paper plants, oil refineries, power houses, retail stores, hospitals, and manufacturing plants.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Have a certificate of High School Equivalency or GED or have a two-year Associate Degree or higher
- Successfully completed one full year of High School Algebra with a passing grade or; one full semester of post high school algebra with a passing grade or; the electrical training ALLIANCE online Tech Math course
- Able to work legally in the United States and provide a valid Social Security Number
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of registration (may apply at 17)
- Possess a valid driver’s license
