THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a HVAC Mechanic, you will be a part of the Facilities Maintenance team. Your responsibilities will be centralized around the installation, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems and controls. 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday – Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm with occasional evenings and/or weekends when required.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial/industrial type HVAC Systems and controls that includes preventative maintenance (PMs), troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair of systems to include Variable Air Volume, Variable Frequency Drives, Controls, and Boilers. 

• Install or connect compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, expansion/discharge valves, temperature/humidity controls, fans, control panels, switches, fuses, filters, gauges, ducts, piping, tubing, environmental controls, and related components, along with complete power connections.

• Troubleshoots, maintains, inspects, diagnose, modify and repairs heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment including boilers, air handlers, hydronic systems and components, chillers, colling towers, fans and fan motors, pumps and pump motors, electric controls and associated safety, overcurrent, and other protection devices.

• Perform preventative maintenance checks and services for various HVAC Systems and refrigeration and distribution systems to include associated plumbing, electrical, mechanical and controls systems within and in accordance with manufactures’ specifications and the Uniform Mechanical Code. 

• In addition, offload, reclaim, recover, and dispose of refrigeration chemicals from all equipment and systems; recommend layout; work sequences; types of materials; inspect room and/or area thermostat controls; clean, calibrate and set temperatures. Communicate effectively with customers and management in a timely manner

• Create, prepare, and update maintenance work orders; review and understand system blueprints; utilization and operation of basic hand and power tools; operate commercial lift equipment and climbing of ladders and scaffolding. Perform internet research of various products and systems, repair parts, and technical documents. Perform other duties and tasks assigned by supervisors, management, and as business needs dictate.


Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• Must pass a government security clearance upon application as well as subsequent criminal background checks and not be subject revocation of facility access during the term of employment. 

• Must possess a valid Driver’s license for the duration of employment.

• Heating, Ventilation and Air Condition (HVAC) License and Certifications must be current. Applicants must have graduated from HVAC Trade School program or successfully complete an apprenticeship program.

• 3 - 5 years of relevant experience is a required. 

Strong knowledge and understanding of HVAC Systems, Controls, and System Schematics.
